Organisational Development Faculty

Barclays is one of the globe's pre-eminent names in banking. It holds a major position of trust and accountability in many people's view, and lives. This 320-year old institution has been under fire, along with many other banks, since the crash of trust in the financial sector after 2008/9. I was invited to work with Barclays over a year ago as part of its new Organisational Development Faculty, a global network of independent change and leadership agents. We work with Barclays' Senior Leadership Group and other leaders in examining and re-defining areas such as the inculcation of a new Go-To vision and values, relationships with Regulators worldwide, and beefing up its ethical and moral accountability across the Managing Director popuation through a Leadership Academy and new programme of business and cultural transformation.

Anthony Jenkins' vision is to create a new 'Go To Bank' in Barclays, reclaiming its proud history and creating a stable, sustainable platform for the next 320 years. Though this will be a long journey, much of Barclays is already ethically driven - they are starting out in the right way, and I am proud to be part of it.

Embercombe is a charity and social enterprise established to champion a way of living that celebrates the opportunities inherent in this challenging time and that inspires people to contribute energetically towards the emergence of a socially just, environmentally sustainable and spiritually fulfilling human presence on earth.

I associate to Embercombe in order to represent it in the corporate domain, and in the delivery of leadership 'intensives'.  We work with key decision makers who hold power in our paradigm to make different and more long-lasting decisions in alignment with their values, ethics, and instincts of service.

Global Leadership Faculty

In the time since the accident in the Gulf of Mexico, BP has been undergoing profound cultural and structural change. This organisation has approached its responsibilities as an energy supplier with heart and commitment. Enjoying the idea that we can work from within to influence, my big surprise has been that BP, whilst of course a commercial organisation, is full of principled, courageous people on a similar journey. Answers to big questions are never easy.

I have been working with BP for the last four years, delivering a range of leadership and cultural/behavioural transformation programmes across its senior and first level leadership populations. I was part of a core team desigining a team working programme which has now been running for three years. This work takes me all over the world to many different cultures and experiences, and it is my privilege to be part of this important work for the world's second largest oil producing organisation. The future of energy is now, and it is in our intentions and behaviour.

Leadership Development

Element 6 is the world's leading industrial diamond manufacturer and one of DeBeers' Family of Companies. It uses artificial diamonds in many different ways, such as drill bits, cutting tools, and other industrial uses. Associating to Cultivate Talent, we provided consulting services to the Global Learning & Development team based in Oxfordshire in order to upskill the HR function, and build a new L&D Framework.  We also designed and delivering a range of learning solutions for senior and first level leaders across the organisation. The primary aim is one of developing culture and capability in its people; the programmes we are building deliver improved leadership and management skill, coaching, and facilitation skills.

I am proud to be a coach to the Clore Social Leadership Programme. This year-long , socially-funded academy is aimed at improving leadership across the social sector, and has in its short history had immense success, with alumni going on to achieve enormous growth and realisation of potential, as well as taking up more senior and visionary leadership across the sector. I provide coaching services to individuals on the programme as part of their overall development.
